Full Time Staffing

We have three shifts A,B,C which consist of one Captain, one Engineer, and three Firefighters. Of those, there is a minimum of three ALS certified paramedics.Our minimum daily staffing is five firefighters.

Reserve Program

The Pinewood Fire Department reserve program was created in October of 2008.  The purpose of this program is to supplement staffing with additional certified personnel.  Our reserves are required to have a state EMT certification as well as being Fire Fighter I&II certified.

Currently, the Pinewood Fire Department employees six reserves which are assigned to a 12 hour shift which is on a six day rotation.  Reserve firefighters are utilized as firefighters and is the entry point into full time employment.

Volunteer Program

Pinewood Fire Department began as a volunteer department in 1973. And as the needs of the community grew, so did we. Today, Pinewood has a team of 15 full-time firefighters, including 12 paramedics, as well as 6 reserve firefighters and approximately a dozen volunteers, who all bring unique skills, experiences, and perspectives to the department. These entities work toward the common goal-  to serve those at their moment of need.

To ensure that we are prepared to provide our community with the highest quality of care, our members are expected to grow and challenge themselves throughout their careers. This may be accomplished at colleges and universities, via online coursework or at a wide range of seminars and training sessions held at Pinewood.
